This is the only hand blender we could find with multiple speeds. It's just plain awesome.
It's a little bit heard to clean the underside of the blade by hand. When the setting is too high, the blades create a powerful suction with the bottom of the container. What a mess that made.Whether or not this is a worthwhile purchase for you really depends on your needs in your kitchen. That being said, here are a few thoughts:1. It was much more convenient than putting HOT soup in a blender, small quantities at a time. I bought this on a whim when I wanted to make a soup that needed to be pureed. 5. Power levels go up to 9, but I find the lower setting to generally be sufficient. But I find that preferable, as the pulse switch is located on the grip, and considering the sharpness of the blades, it's a good safety feature.3.
This doesn't replace a blender nor does it replace a handmixer. I personally prefer cleaning things like this immediately rather than putting it in the dishwasher, but it certainly is dishwasher-safe.2. It pureed it like a dream, very quickly--whole cloves of garlic vanished. This can grow annoying at times.4. Probably the best way would be to immerse it in hot soapy water and blend. No ON switch, just pulse. If you make shakes or smoothies, soups, or other foods requiring puree, and find your blender for some of these to be cumbersome, this product may be something to consider. The cup it comes with seemed really handy when I opened the box, but so far I've used it for nothing more than a holding container for the appliance on my counter top.
I've only used it to make smoothies. Holding it for a couple of minutes is not a issue for me (I don't feel it heavy at all), but I can imagine it to be inconvenient for the elderlys. It saves space, and is pretty easy to clean, compared to a non-hand-held blender I used before.
Great product, powerful and feels like it a much more expensive hand blender. Oh, and you have to get red. It's just too cool.
Sturdy, strong, efficient, easy to handle. A great product. In the debate over corded v. cordless, I am solidly in the camp preferring strength and freedom from concerns about battery life over those who fuss about the slighty more limited freedom with a cord.
